Can You Die From Broken Heart Syndrome

If you’ve ever lost a parent to you, you know how horrible it can also be. Sometimes in cases, it will only last for years or even decades after death. That type of pain is known as broken heart syndrome (BHS), called stress-induced cardiomyopathy (CIM). While it was first discovered in Japan in 2009, it’s still not well understood by many healthcare professionals, and many have doubts about whether it exists.

what is BHFS

Broken heart syndrome (BHFS) is sometimes called takotsubo cardiomyopathy. It happens when a person has an episode of stress or extreme emotional distress, followed by an irregular heartbeat. This can temporarily cause chest pain that feels like a heart attack, though BHFS doesn’t damage your heart muscle or affect its long-term health. The condition was named takotsubo cardiomyopathy because it resembles an octopus trap made of stone and left behind in water after tides recede (also known as a tako-tsubo).

Normally shaped like an oval, with a wider end and pointed end, these pots are said to resemble two sides of a wavy line seen in X-rays taken during BHFS attacks.

What are the signs and symptoms?

Most people who suffer a broken heart will have classic cardiac symptoms such as chest pain and shortness of breath. However, these classic signs can also be caused by other conditions, so rule out medical causes.

One of most essential factor is that you are truthful to your doctor; it is common for children to conceal clinical signs throughout situations such as these and. Tell your doctor exactly what happened—were there specific triggers that caused your loved one’s death? Was there any family history of early death? It may seem unfair, but answering these questions honestly can help protect your health in the future.

How long does it last

The severity of a broken heart depends on several factors. Just how big was your seat before it was shattered? How bad is your disappointment now that you’ve gotten over them? If we’re talking about Broken Heart Syndrome, it’s not a condition that will kill you, but it can still be an intense experience.

The syndrome is often used to reference Takotsubo cardiomyopathy, or stress-induced cardiomyopathy—essentially, extreme emotional stress can cause damage to your cardiovascular system. It’s more common in women than men and usually occurs immediately after a major stressor like infidelity or divorce; physical symptoms include sudden chest pain, shortness of breath, and palpitations.

How many people have died from BHFS?

BHFS is a rare medical condition that affects 3,000 to 5,000 people per year. In 2015, a study found that nearly half of those affected will die within a month, and one-third will die within two weeks of onset. However, there have been no reported cases in which BHFS has been directly linked to someone’s death. Some patients have experienced arrhythmias (irregular heartbeat) and syncope (fainting or blacking).

Could perhaps I go into the hospital unless I’m feeling this way?

If you’re having chest pains, it can be hard to tell whether they’re related to a more serious issue. Chest pain is a common heart attack symptom, leading to serious health problems and even death if not treated quickly.

However, other conditions can cause chest pain, so it’s always best to go to your doctor or an emergency room if you’re experiencing anything out of the ordinary. If you experience nausea, sweating, fatigue, and chest pain after any stressful event, consider going for a medical checkup even if your symptoms don’t include regular chest discomfort.

How much time does BHFS take to heal?

Is there no set time limit for how long your BHFS lasts? The medical community has varying opinions about how long it should take for you to recover and get back to normal life fully. Still, many people see an improvement in symptoms within a few days. However, it can take months for your body to fully adjust after experiencing a traumatic breakup or another form of rejection.

It all depends on how much stress was involved, how serious your illness is and whether or not it’s affecting other areas of your life. If you find that you’re still struggling with symptoms after several weeks have passed, contact a doctor so they can assess what might be going on with your health.

Will medication help me in recovering from the condition?

It depends. Researchers are actively working to find a cure, but doctors haven’t yet found a way to prevent it. There is no medication for broken heart syndrome. However, some patients may be treated with other medications for their symptoms, such as beta-blockers and steroids. Antidepressants can help speed up recovery time; it’s best to check with your doctor before beginning any new drug regimen.

This would be beneficial if you avoided alcohol and cigarettes, since this can further slow healing. The condition will eventually go away within one or two months.

How do I know if I’m getting better?

It cannot be easy to know when your condition improves like any ailment. Be sure to check in with your doctor if there are no immediate signs of improvement and make a follow-up appointment. You’ll likely want to discuss treatment options as well. After all, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t start feeling better now that you have time on your side!

What can I do to improve my health until I get better?

Nobody ever wants to hear they have a serious illness, especially if it’s terminal. It can be devastating when doctors tell patients they have a life-threatening disease or an incurable chronic condition like diabetes, cancer, or HIV/AIDS. You may want to know all about your condition, but simply knowing that something has been diagnosed can be overwhelming. However, getting more information and educating yourself is important when facing a life-altering diagnosis.

Conclusion

In sum, BHSS is a serious condition that may result in death. However, there are many cases where those who develop BHSS make full recoveries within several months of their initial diagnosis. As a result, it’s critical to seek treatment as soon as possible to avoid potentially dangerous complications or side effects. If you suspect you have BHSS and are experiencing specific symptoms, contact your doctor right away so they can properly diagnose and treat you. BHSS is uncommon, but if left untreated, it can be fatal!
